Prognostic and diagnostic roles of serum ferritin level in cancer

چکیده
The ferritin level, a protein responsible for iron metabolism and storage, is sensitive indicator of overload in various pathological conditions. In leukemia, levels increase with disease stages can predict survival after transplantation. Leukemia-induced dysregulation the ferroportin-hepcidin regulatory axis results intracellular accumulation, activation reactive oxygen species (ROS)-related signaling pathway, inhibition hematopoiesis, leading to anemia increased dependence on red blood cell transfusions, thereby disrupting physiological cycle. Additionally, rise other types cancer, indicating its potential as target both diagnosis treatment. Therefore, understanding role leukemia diseases crucial developing effective treatment strategies enhance patient outcomes.

Background and Aim: Serum ferritin in patients with thalassemia major is an indicator of iron overload, which is the main cause of damage to various organs of the body in patients with thalassemia major. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between serum ferritin level and renal function in thalassemia major patients. Materials and Methods: This descriptive and cross-sectio...
متن کاملAssociation of Body mass index and serum ferritin level in pediatrics with Beta-thalassemia major disease
Background: Beta-thalassemia major is a type of inherited blood disease that results in variable outcomes such as severe anemia due to haemoglobin chains. Recurrent and lifelong blood transfusions as a treatment in beta-thalassemia major disease lead to iron deposition in various organs and cause the failure of multiple organs. Failure of affected organs leads to Body mass index (BMI) abnormali...

Abstract Background Beta-thalassemia is a common hereditary hemoglobinopathy, which is a reason of microcytic hypochromic anemia. Patients with major thalassemia require multiple blood transfusions. This study evaluated growth in thalassemic patient and relationship with ferritin level. Materials and Methods This is a cross sectional study on seventy patients (36 boys, 34girls) with transfu...
